For more than seventeen years the Greensboro Children’s Museum (GCM) has opened its doors as a welcomed destination for young children, their families, care-givers and educators to engage and encourage learning through play. Located on 4 acres with a 33,000 square foot indoor facility, containing 20 interactive exhibits, and an outdoor Edible Schoolyard teaching garden, the Museum hosts more than 108,000 annual visitors from diverse economic, racial and cultural backgrounds. School field trips primarily originate from 8 surrounding NC counties and southern Virginia, while families throughout the state also visit, including those who ride the train and walk 2 blocks from the Greensboro Gaylon Transportation Center.

A tremendous benefit to the downtown landscape, the Greensboro Children’s Museum offers one of the few fun learning environments for young children in the heart of Downtown Greensboro. In order to capitalize on significant center city investments the Board of Directors of the Greensboro Children’s Museum is conducting a capital campaign. Currently, The Reaching Greater Heights campaign has raised over $3.2 million to elevate its outdoor presence and add exciting features to the already notable interior space.

As you can see from the pictures below, we have already reached greater heights at the Greensboro Children’s Museum. Our Neptune XXL climbers are not only vibrant, sculptural additions to the landscape, they also provide a unique opportunity for children to challenge themselves, make independent decisions, build self-confidence and celebrate accomplishments. Our outdoor play plaza is only part of the expansion. We have also updated our look with new paint and landscaping, have a beautifully renovated lobby to welcome our members and guests and have expanded our outdoor learning areas with Nannie’s Outdoor Classroom. Next winter we look forward to more additions to our interior – an interactive water feature and an exciting technology center!

You can still be a part of this fantastic opportunity. A gift to our capital campaign allows us to continue providing the community with superior exhibits and exceptional programming that nurtures the growth and development of young minds and bodies.
