Learn to make fresh pasta dough and create classic shapes by hand and machine. We'll enjoy the pasta with a homemade sauce.

Winter Herbs Series: Thyme

Tuesday, February 21, 2017, 6:00-7:00 PM
Adults - $12 Members, $15 Non-members

This series will focus on the culinary application of herbs.  Classes will meet in the garden to learn about growing conditions, harvesting techniques, and health benefits.  Then, we'll move to the kitchen to learn how to prepare the herbs for use as food or tea.  Each participant will leave with fresh herbs, samples, and recipes.

Learn to make this delicious and festive bread. We'll prepare the dough together, and each participant will braid and bake a mini loaf. On the menu: challah bread and seasonal soup

Family Cooking Class: Pizza Party!

Saturday, March 11, 2017, 2:00-3:30PM
Ages: 5 and up with caregiver
Cost: $30 Members - $35 Non-Members

Put a new spin on pizza with pizza pinwheels. We'll learn to make dough from scratch and customize our pizza creations with a variety of toppings. To compete the meal, we'll prepare a leafy green salad and homemade dressing.

Adult Cooking Class: Traditional Irish Favorites

Thursday, March 16, 2017, 6:30-8:30PM
Ages: 21+
Cost: $60 GCM Members | $65 Non-Members

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Michael Harkenreader, Chef de Cuisine of Undercurrent Restaurant. Class will begin with Irish soda bread and cheese. Then, Chef Michael will discuss steps to braising and roasting corned beef and as well as guide us through hands-on opportunities to complete a classic Irish meal. 

On the menu: Irish soda bread & cheese, corned beef, boxty (potato pancakes), colcannon (mashed potatoes with cabbage & onions)

Chef Bio: Michael graduated with his Associates of Culinary Arts from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York in 2001.  He has worked at Undercurrent for over eight years and is currently, Chef de Cuisine.  Michael enjoys cooking food from scratch, utilizing local ingredients to create classic and creative meals.

 

Kids Cooking Class: Pedal-Powered Smoothies

Venture to the garden to harvest some early spring produce. We'll prepare ingredients in the kitchen and hop on the blender bike to pedal our way toward delicious kid-powered smoothie creations!

Description: We'll visit El Salvador in this international cooking class and learn how to make traditional pupusas- a thick handmade corn tortilla stuffed with cheese or refried beans. Then, we'll harvest garden-fresh produce for cabbage slaw and accompaniments. Buen Provecho!
On the menu: vegetarian pupusas, curtido (slaw), refrescos (fresh fruit drinks)
