GCM Playgroup

Dates:Thursdays, Starting - January 12, 2017, 3:30pm-5pm
Cost: GCM Members Free | Non-Members $5 *caregivers free!

Pay at admission desk on arrival or purchase tickets online. Pre-registration is encouraged.

Connect with other parents and caregivers of young children (Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers) at the Greensboro Children’s Museum each week for a standing playdate!  Meet a Museum educator for a kick-off activity and then go exploring, playing, and learning in the Museum together.  GCM Playgroup meets every Thursday at 3:30pm from September through May.

Baby & Me Yoga by Wren's Nest (5 Weeks - Waddlers)

Spring Series:  April 6 – May 11 (6 sessions)

4:30 - 5:15 p.m.
Ages: 0 – 12 months
Cost: GCM Members $78 | Nonmembers $90
Class fee includes admission to the Greensboro Children’s Museum for the participant and one adult on the day of the class.

This 45-minute class is designed for both baby and caregiver. We spend the first part of class singing and moving playfully with your baby yogi.  The second part of class is stretching, breathing, and moving for you.  This class has a wide age range (5 Weeks - 12 Months).

Little Yogis by Wren's Nest (4 - 7 Years Old)

Ages: 4 – 7 years old
Cost: GCM Members $60 | Nonmembers $72
Class fee includes admission to the Greensboro Children’s Museum for the participant and one adult on the day of the class.

Drop Off Program: yes

This class is designed to provide little yogis ages 4-7 with a place to have FUN and gain an introduction to the fundamentals of yoga through playful breathing exercises, poses, and games!

Toddler and Me by Wren's Nest (1 - 3 Years Old)

This class is for toddlers and caregivers to enjoy the benefits of yoga together. This class gives parents the opportunity to see how their child interacts with other children and the teacher. Animated poses, music and props help toddlers develop good listening skills from the start!

Family Yoga by Wren's Nest (Ages 3 +)

(price includes 1 adult and 1 child; addtional family members are $5 and can pay upon arrival) Class fee includes admission to the Greensboro Children’s Museum for the participant and one adult on the day of the class.

Family Yoga is a fun-filled way for children, parents, and even grandparents to spend quality time together while enjoying a healthy activity.  Practicing yoga together helps strengthen the bonds between parents and children while they support each other and have fun.  Family Yoga provides the rare opportunity for both adult and child to observe and learn from each other.  This class is filled with partner poses, group poses, silly flowing sequences, and yoga games!

Messes & Masterpieces (3-5 years)

Tuesdays from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.

From Michelangelo to Mondrian, we’ll familiarize ourselves with great works of art and try our hands at mimicking the masters. We will explore elements of art such as line, color, and texture. Come ready to learn and, of course, get a bit messy!

Kids Cooking Class: Pedal-Powered Smoothies

Teen Cooking Class: Challah Bread

Learn to make this delicious and festive bread. We'll prepare the dough together, and each participant will braid and bake a mini loaf.

APRIL

Tween Cooking Class: A Taste of El Salvador

Friday, April 7, 5:30-7:00 pm
Ages: 9-11 years old

Description: We'll visit El Salvador in this international cooking class and learn how to make traditional pupusas- a thick handmade corn tortilla stuffed with cheese or refried beans. Then, we'll harvest garden-fresh produce for cabbage slaw and accompaniments. Buen Provecho!

On the menu: vegetarian pupusas, curtido (slaw), refrescos (fresh fruit drinks)

Description: Join us for a fun afternoon tea featuring seasonal sweet and savory treats! You’ll learn to prepare a perfect cup of tea and delicious tea-infused recipes to share with your little one.
