2020 summer camps at the Greensboro Children’s Museum

The Greensboro Children’s Museum has made the difficult decision to cancel in-person summer camps in June and July. We are hopeful that we will resume in-person camps in August. Though we are disWe are disappointed to not be spending these early summer months with campers, we want to stay connected.

Summer Explorer Kits are an inventive way to bring the camp experience home with you.  They are designed to be fun, learning opportunities for ages 4-14 with an option for joining our online gatherings when it is helpful to connect.

We are accepting registrations for our August summer camps at the Greensboro Children’s Museum. Each week, our educators craft creative learning experiences for campers ages 4 – 14 years. GCM Camps are week-long, day camps and range in theme from mastering basic culinary skills to coding and robotics. Your camper can discover food, science, yoga, art, music, and more.

Digital Storytelling
Week of August 3, 8:30a – 3p | ages 8-11 | gcm members $160 • nonmembers $185
Tell your story this week as we go through all the stages of digital storytelling — from coding basics to plot development to sharing your work.  Campers will use everything from old school story boards and hand drawn illustrations to animation apps that will result in a culminating piece you can keep for yourself or share with the world. Families are invited to join us on the last day of camp for a highlights reel from the week. Register here

Wild at HeART
Week of August 3, 8:30a – 3p | ages 6-8 | gcm members $160 • nonmembers $185
Get inspired by nature! Use shadows, sticks, flowers, water, and more as inspiration or ingredients in a creative masterpiece. Young artists will explore different techniques and media while enjoying the natural beauty of the garden. Families are invited to join us for an art exhibition of the final day of camp. Baking Boot Camp
Week of August 10, 8:30a – 3p | ages 11-14 | gcm members $185 • nonmembers $210
Unleash your creativity and whip up delicious culinary creations in The Edible Schoolyard Kitchen.  Bakers will learn the fundamentals of baking and explore cookies, quick breads, yeast breads, pastry, and cupcakes. Families are invited to a pop-up bakery on the final day run entirely by the campers. No prior baking experience required. Join waitlist

Fancy Nancy
Week of August 10, 8:30a – 1p | ages 4-6 | gcm members $115 • nonmembers $135
A camp devoted to being fancy like Nancy?  Ooo-la-la!  With this title character as our inspiration, we will devote our week to developing an aptitude for the arts by dancing, painting, cooking and crafting.  Say “au revoir!” (that’s fancy for goodbye) on our last day with a fabulous performance and a tasty tea party for the whole family. Kids in the Kitchen
Week of August 17, 8:30a – 1p | ages 4-6 | gcm members $115 • nonmembers $135
This week, campers will be using children’s literature from across the world as inspiration for exploring different food cultures.  We’ll make a new recipe each day stemming from a book and use creativity, games, and music to explore the world around us. At the end of the week, families are invited to join us for a special celebration in the kitchen. Join waitlist

Scholarship Form

The Greensboro Children’s Museum offers camp scholarship opportunities at their discretion on a first come, first serve basis. One camp scholarship is issued per child. The Guardian of the scholarship recipient is responsible for transportation for the week. Extended care is not available during the camp season. You will be contacted by the Camp Coordinator two weeks prior to camp commencement to complete the necessary Medical and Emergency Contact Form. Become a summer explorer today with pre-assembled kits from the Greensboro Children’s Museum. Following our summer camp themes, each week a new kit is available with all the materials and instructions you need for a week of activities that are fun, educational, and hands-on. Your camper will work at their own pace or along with us to discover everything from cooking to coding with daily, hands-on activities.

With easy-to-follow instructions and engaging videos, you’ll be set for hours of creative learning during your camp week. Our team of professional educators will lead optional live activities, tutorials, and Q&A sessions all following the themes of each week. Kits will be available for contact-less pick-up on the Sunday prior to your camp week commencing.
