Thank you for your interest in our field trips at the Greensboro Children’s Museum! GCM offers field trips at a discounted group rate to a variety of community-based organizations and schools including daycares, preschools, day camps, churches, charitable organizations and public/private schools. GCM Field Trips are designed to meet NC Essential Standards and Core Curriculum. For an in-depth look at GCM’s school-based field trips, please view our 2018-19 Educator’s Guide.

  • 10 or more children are required from an organization to qualify for a group rate
  • Passes, discounts, coupons, and membership cards will not be accepted as payment for group visits
  • On-site parking is free and can accommodate buses.

Field Trip Programs

Overview:  Choose one of our staff-led field trip programs for learners to engage with various concepts ranging from gardening and healthy eating habits to diversity and financial literacy. Field Trip programs last three hours and include exploration in the Museum and time for lunch (PreK – 3 grade visits.)

Cost:  $6.50 per person (plus tax), including chaperones.  Teachers and bus drivers are free.

  • Scholarships are available for Title 1 Schools thanks to the generosity of Duke Energy Foundation, Lincoln Financial Foundation, and individual donors.
  • We strongly recommend 1 chaperone per 5 children.

Discovery Field Trips

Overview:  Explore GCM with your group or class at your own pace. During a Discovery Visit, you’ll select which exhibits are most appropriate and relevant for your learners, allowing you to connect current topics of study and adapt objectives for the trip to meet students’ needs.

Cost:  3 Hours – $6.00 per person (plus tax); 1.5 Hours – $4.00 per person (plus tax), including chaperones.  Teachers and bus drivers are free.

Groups may choose to bring lunches to eat at the Museum. When you check in, the field trip coordinator will give you an estimated schedule for lunch times. We appreciate your patience during lunch as we often have multiple groups eating on-site.

Field Trips To-Go

Greensboro Children’s Museum offers two on-the-go field trip experiences brought right to your classroom. Fields Trips To-Go are available Tuesdays through Fridays from September 2018 through February 2019. Programs last 45 minutes with three optional start times (9:30a, 10a, and 10:30a). Each program meets grade level science, math, literacy and health standards and includes two Museum educators, all lesson materials, and lots of hands-on learning!
